AboutWhat enemo is
Many makers in Japan want to sell their handmade and digital goods to buyers overseas, but researching an unfamiliar market in English is hard. Searching a marketplace shows a long list of products, but not what the popular ones have in common.
enemo is a small research tool built by a seller in Japan for their own shop. It uses the Etsy Open API to look at active listings for one keyword, counts simple facts (how many listings there are, price ranges, which tags are used often, whether listings have recent reviews), and turns them into a short summary.
enemo does not make judgments or generate text. The seller reads the summary with their own AI assistant through MCP (Model Context Protocol).
How it worksHow it works
- The seller types one product idea, for example “mug”. Japanese words are translated into English.
- enemo calls the Etsy Open API at that moment only, and counts listings, prices, frequent tags and recent reviews.
- The result is saved as a short summary for up to 6 hours, then deleted.
- The seller opens the summary in their own AI assistant through MCP and asks for advice.

The research app uses the Etsy API. Access is currently limited to the developer and requires authentication.
Open developer sign inEtsy dataHow we handle Etsy data
- The API is called only when the seller searches. No crawling, no scheduled jobs, no scraping of Etsy pages.
- Data is kept for at most 6 hours and then deleted. Only the search keyword and time are kept after that.
- No downloads or exports. Product images are displayed from Etsy’s image URLs and linked to the listing page. When the seller asks their AI assistant about design trends, a few small thumbnails are fetched at that moment and passed to the assistant. enemo never stores images.
- No sales estimates. Reviews are shown only as a sign that an item has been bought, never as a sales count.
- The summary helps sellers understand the market. It never encourages copying other sellers’ photos, designs or text.
- Right now the developer is the only user. Before offering enemo to anyone else, we will ask Etsy for written permission and apply for Commercial Access.
